The Stone

With natural colours that actually look like sandstone, Jolly Rogers Exclusive Stone becomes the perfect choice, as it is extremely versatile and cost effective through its variety of applications. Our products are hand pressed using a blend of quality quartzite sands mixed with the highest-grade cement, which is then dry, pressed into molds to form the stone. Additional additives are also included in the mix to increase the stones strength as well as reduce efflorescence and porosity. JR Exclusive Stone has the look and feel of natural stone, however it is very much a concrete based product so it has similar characteristics, which include requiring a curing time, expansion and contraction as well as shrinkage which can cause surface webbing.

The dry press manufacture process is designed to have the minimum amount of water content, added to the stone mix, which is necessary for hydration making the Characteristic Breaking load almost twice that required within Standards Australia for residential paving segments. It has been tested and given a low slip rating when wet and has been tested to be salt safe so it is perfect for around swimming pools.

The dry pressed process is used to simulate the natural processes in which natural sandstone is created. Over time, various sands and crushed stone are blended and compressed together to form natural sandstone.

The Stone

At JR Exclusive Stone we blend the raw materials together with cement and compress them in special molds to form the stone and allow it to cure in a controlled environment for three weeks before delivery. We do not use a lot of oxides so our colours are very natural and are consistent over time. This manufacture process is designed to create a product that has a similar grain texture and appearance as well as age and weather to natural stone.
